Nil - Scherzo

I expected not to like Nil, because I mostly like 'dark and heavy' music. I didn't know what I was going to hear from he-who-was-once-in-Malice-Mizer-then-was-in-a-band-called-Mega-8-Ball, Tetsu. I ended up like Nil though, because of this mini album.

Don't Leave Me Alone, Not! - This one is my favorite. It starts well, it ends well. It's good throughout the whole thing. It's hard to believe sometimes that someone who, over ten years ago, was in a band with MANA, now makes good sounding punk music. You go, Tetsu. It has good singalong quality.

Emergency Chords - Weak opening. Really weak opening. It sounds like it'll break off into some kind of boring VK-style song, but it gets better. Much better. It keeps my head bobbing for most of the song. I LOVE the start-stop section. Though it's shnort (which is good!).

Ghost Rider - This song is definately filler. It does just like, nothing. If Tetsu had an ounce more of angst in his voice, it'd sound a little better, but meh. Not a bad song, but it doesn't stand a chance next to the other songs.

A-ha-ha - This song kinda bores me.. It's fun and bouncy and whatnot blah blah blah... Next!

Scherzo - I like this song though. It brought my interest to keep listening back. I can see why this is the title track. The solo's nice!

Can You Hear Me - I kept humming the guitar lines after I learned them well enough to do so. I love this song too. The near-the-end part is really good. The 'aaaaah's are well placed. I think it's a good closer.

This mini album made me smile, and gave me faith in Tetsu. I remember just a while ago I thought he disappeared, until I was informed of Nil's existance. I'm glad I was.

Kagerou - Goroushoku

I was annoyed when I heard Rakushu. But, I forgave them for that and decided to try Goroushoku. (Note: THe order may be wrong.)

Ragan - Ew! When I heard this, I wanted to just rip my ears off. THIS ISN'T KAGEROU. I knew Kagerou to be a crazy sounding band. I know bands have to tone down eventually, but not like THIS. I will quote Go here: Bass bass! Drum hit! Guitar flicker! But I must add this: Daisuke whimpers! It picks up SLIGHTLY near the end, but still bores me more than trying to listen to a full My Dying Bride album.

Futsu no Seiheki - What is THIS? It just sounds like a heap of buzzing. Like the drummer decided to throw his drumset down some stairs, then the engineer threw all his studio keyboards with it. Why Kagerou.. Why...

Te - I LOVE the guitars on this song. Daisuke's vocal parts kinda annoy me at times, like in his first few lines because he over-sings them. I love this song though. Simply because Yuana actually plays something that sounds even slightly talented on this. Too bad he's trying more to look like a rodent, than play something right. On this song he does the playing part right though.

Shiroi Karasu - Did somebody say generic VK? If this song comes on when I'm not paying attention, I let it go, but I don't just go and listen to it. This shouldn't have been the single.

Junkan Kikei Shoujo A - THIS one should have been the single. This song is the best on the album, easily. Daisuke lets 60% of his energy out in this one, rather than 20% like on the rest of the album. And the background growling is perfect. I just don't like the attempt at being technical by sounding super sloppy. Other than that, this song is great.

Rakuyou To Kimi blah blah - I like this song.. sorta. I bob my head to it occasionally, I hum to it, but it's just kinda boring simply because it never goes anywhere that other VK bands haven't. It's JUST good enough to be fluffy padding.

Zetsubou Ni Sayonara - AAAAAAAAAH. NOOOOO. STOOOOOP. This song does nothing! It's boring and stupid. It's loud in that pointless kinda way. Like bar music.

Musou Kurau wjhiufehdsgfedjkgedg - Ick. What is this? The cliche 'LET'S TRY TO MAKE FUNK/JAZZ/SOMETHING RETRO' craze in VK? I think so. Is this song good at ALL? I think not. I'd rather hear Kyo sing the national anthem.

Kurokami no Aitsu - Boooooriiiiing. ...Except for Daisuke! He sounds wonderful. The music's just really conventional.

Akatsuki - This song annoys me no matter how many times I try to listen to it. It's like that Zetsubou song. Annoying and pointless. This padding isn't even fluffy. It feels like sandpaper.

Sabishisa blah blah blah - ...... why kagerou why. D:

Mourou Epilogue - This song shoulda been earlier in the album so the listener could forget that this album causes hangovers-- most of it. I like how it ends, except for the LONG beep.

There we have it! An album not worth buying.

Review: Gazette - Cassis

Alot of people like Cassis, but it bores me to death. It drags on for six minutes while doing absolutely nothing that 3585983535 VK bands haven't done. I couldn't sit through all six of those minutes. It's so repeditive. The sorta solo at the end is cool though. If this song were shorter, maybe I'd like it.

Then Toguro comes on. And here's my opinion on Toguro: THIS should've been the single. Not the B-side. I really like the part where the vocals switch ears with the fast syllables and what not. Could be the guitarists singing 'cause it doesn't sound too much like Ruki. While Ruki sounds good on this song, I can't help but say he does kinda sound like Kyo on this song. ...His voice is just a little bit deeper though.

I haven't heard Bite To All. I'm too lazy to get the torrent.

Later, I'll write a review of either something Moi dix Mois, or Guroushoku by Kagerou.

Bands I Just Started Really Liking
Merry - They're okay, but alot of their stuff is boring/sounds the same. I like Violet Harenchi and Japanese Modernist though.
Gilgamesh/Girugamesh/Girugameshu - They're awesome. Simple as that.
I want to like Gazette, but I haven't heard the right song yet. Any recommendations?
I want to try Vidoll, dunno what to try though. I also want to try Kiyoharu and D. I just can't find any D torrents..

Rant/Review - KoRn - Twisted Transistor
I had faith in KoRn after I heard Take A Look In The Mirror. That's the album that got me back INTO KoRn after the disaster called Untouchables. So then right after that I'm met with Word Up, a rather dumb cover. It's over the KoRn fans' heads. They don't know it's a song originally done bya funk band called Cameo. But it's alright, I thought to myself. Until I year later when I heard of Head(?) leaving. I knew KoRn was gonna go down the drain. The dual guitars is part of their coolness. So now we have a crappy electronic beat with a cheap sounding guitar (far from their old heavy one), while Jonathan Davis shows that when he sings for a whole song, it's very boring. Are the kids even buying this?

Yes. They are. ): What a shame. I thought KoRn was gonna actually become a true band. Well they didn't. NOPROPSFORYOU.

Rant About DeG Fansites
Isn't it just great how it takes like, forever to find a Dir en Grey fansites/info sections that go PAST Macabre?! Heck, Tattered Cloth ALMOST makes it to six Ugly. But I go into general Jmusic sites and most of them just HINT at the fact that the album Vulgar even existed. Either that or they're just like 'WELL THEYRE TOO LOUD NOW ::shoots behind shed::' I think they should just close the sites down. ^^
Seriously though. They're not stealing from American music. They don't NEED to wear dresses to be good. Kyo's screaming is rather artistic, rather than just loud and sloppy as nu-metal does it. So.. I don't understand where the problem is. Not all J-bands need to be all OMGKAWAII and girly. Look at D'espairsRay, only Zero's girly, and they're making it. I always see people hatin' on their music/image. I don't understand why, since when Kyo sang, his lyrics were about stuff like incest and cannibalism. KAWAII!!!!!!! So, then people call it noise. If you actually listen to songs like Clever Sleazoid, Garbage, or Saku, you can hear little stuff in the background. But people overlook that because Kyo screamed. People just focus on what he's doing. It's just another singing style anyway. It's not like he's making car noises into the mic. But.. I think Kyo said it best about older fans. (:

Rant About Mana Fans
OMG MANAS ALWAYS UP FRONT LOL
.........Okay. Do we ever see the GacktJOB in photobooks. I don't think so. I dunno who's even IN GacktJOB right now. 'Least Mana points to their pictures on the website. I seriously think, for a solo project, Mana's being generous! Who're Miyavi's support members? What about PuffyAmiYumi? I mean, the whole snob thing, as far as I'm concerned isn't true. People always make up some flaws against everyone. Like the whole 'Gackt's a sellout/whore' thing. With the whole Kazuno issue, I kinda agree. Whenever Mana goes near Kazuno, he kinda moves away. And K's all like RAH UP IN YO GRILL. I want Kazuno to be in the middle or something. He's so amusing! And adorable. <3
Side note: I hope Mana gets a deep voiced singer, but one that doesn't sound like Gacklaha. I think Gackt, Klaha, Kaya, and Juka are enough. We should have one with a strong voice, and can actually scream live. The whole forced rumbly voice wasn't that great. Though Juka was awesome, he had his rough parts, like the fact he only sang in one octave. I liked Tetsu and Klaha because they could go lower and higher than their natural tone. Oh well. Maybe I'm being too wishful.. afterall.. Mana has a little dungeon where he keeps Gackt's DNA... and a machine to clone him with. Unfortunately, the singers are temporary and go on to be pop stars.. (You just wait. Kaya's solo career is gonna bloom! xD ...And Juka's gonna have one too!)
Sigh. That was one long rant.

So, I now have Call of Duty 2. And it's awesome.
I usually dislike shooters, but now there's a few I'm after. This was one of them. It's freakin' great. Very few graphical errors. It's challenging too.
Next up.. is Gun.

LOL MY FIRST REVIEW.
D'espairsRay - Murder Day
So, DespairsRay made a DVD. And it is awesome. And I shall say my whole review.
So, it starts with someone (Zero?) explaining the name. It was pretty cool. Suddenly it shows the band, behind curtains, as electronic music plays in the background. The curtain falls, and they start playing Garnet. Good, no? I'm not gonna narrate the whole DVD. :P
Hizumi was awesome. He always looked like he was having fun. His weird hand motions were entertaining, too. His performance was great.
Zero was my second favorite. This DVD is what made me a Zero fan. He always went from standing still to headbanging. I also thought it was funny that the only sound he seemed to be able to make was "RYE!" He looked great too.
Karyu was my FAVORITE. Zero's my favorite member but.. Karyu... He was awesome. His movement in Gothic was.. Priceless. His constant swaying/grooving/headbanging was so amusing. I couldn't see his eyes though.. o_O He looked kinda cute though.
The music is where it kinda tripped. Alot of the songs sounded generic. I only really recognized Garnet, Maverick, Gothic, and Marry of the Blood. I later learned the other songs, but I ended up skipping them in the DVD anyway. Another lacking point is how there's like, ALOT of prerecorded vocals. They coulda had Karyu or Zero do those. It'd give Zero another sound to make! But... After all I ended up watching this more than I watched Invite to Immorality. And that's a darn good DVD too.
I SO wanna see a D'espairsRay concert. (Though I never will, because I'm poor.) For a few reasons: To see musicians play live, to touch Hizumi and/or Zero, and to do something important/interesting.
